A 501(c)(3) nonprofit · Anderson, SC

For those who serve.
For those who survive.

The Mindful Essence Foundation helps survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and the firefighters, officers, EMS crews, veterans, and service members who protect our communities, get confidential mental health care when they need it.

Asking for help doesn't make you weaker. It keeps you in the fight.

Before I was a clinician, I was a teacher. I watched children struggle for years before anyone named what was happening.Dr. Ashley Nelson, Founder

Rooted in the classroom and the clinic

Dr. Nelson spent years as a classroom teacher before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She has seen anxiety, ADHD, and trauma from both sides of the desk. That's why the Foundation also trains teachers and school staff to recognize the signs and connect students and families with help early.
